Johann Michael Voigt was born in 1736 in Leutershausen, east of Mannheim. He married in Schriesheim in 1760 to Anna Margaretha Stapp. She had been born in 1735. The family immigrated first to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) and then in 1766 to Russia.
The baptisms of two children are recorded in Danish records: Anna Catharina, baptized 6 Jun 1762, and Anna Susanna, baptized 29 Nov 1763, both in Friderichshaab, Randbol Parish, Vejle Amt.
They arrived in the colony of Anton on 1 January 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 13.
