Description

Johann Konrad Töpfer, son of Johann Heinrich Töpfer & Anna Gela Rosenkrantz, was born on 16 August 1736 in Schellbach, southwest of Remsfeld. He married Anna Martha Reichmann of nearby Remsfeld on 30 September 1765.

They immigrated to Russia, arriving from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of skipper Thomas Fairfax. They arrived in the Volga German colony of Philippsfeld on 3 August 1767. Konrad is recorded there as a widower on the 1767 Census in Household No. 45.

In 1786, the Töpfer family moved to the colony of Fischer where they are recorded on the 1798 Census in Household No. Fs06.
