Johannes Steinert was born 5 August 1726 in Sulzfeld, southwest of Eppingen. He married there to Maria Katharina Bosecker on 27 November 1753. She was from Ehrstädt.
They immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) settling on the farmstead of Tordenschiolds Hof in the colony of Sophienwiese on 7 December 1761. They departed for Russia in 1765, arriving in the colony of Galka on 12 April 1766. They are recorded there along with 3 children (Johann, Sophia Barbara, and Julianna) on the 1767 Census in Household No. 26.
