Johann Sprangel was born in 1730 in Queckborn. Sprangel married Anna Catharina Scheld. They have the following children: (1) Anna Elisabeth, born in 1759; (2) Philipp Heinrich, born in 1760; (3) Johannes, born in 1762; and (4) Johann Georg, born in 1766.
The Johann Sprangel family immigrated to Russia, arriving from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 29 August 1766 aboard the ship Apollo with skipper Detlov Merberg at the helm. At this point the family includes his wife Catharina as well as children Elisabeth, Heinrich Philipp, Johann, and Johann Georg – and also a Catharina (age 3) [possibly 3 months?].
The family arrived in Kraft on 18 August 1767 and are recorded there in Household No. 21.
Widow Anna Katharina Sprangel isrecorded on the 1798 Census in Kraft living in Household No. Kf39 with her daughter Anna Margaretha's family (surname Bertram). Anna Katharina's son Johannes (age 37) is recorded with them, but is working in Dreispitz. This Johannes Sprangel next appears on the 1834 census of Holstein in Household No. 66 (as having died in 1820). His descendants are living in the daughter colony of Eckheim.
