Johann Christian Schneider, son of Johannes Schneider & Anna Dorothea Weydenbach, was born on 10 July 1740 in Hasselborn, a small village located 4 miles north of Usingen in Hessen. He married Anna Margaretha Reitz and they had a boy, Johann Anthonius, who was born in 1764.
Johann Christian Schneider and his family immigrated to Russia as colonists of the recruiter LeRoy. They departed from the port of Lübeck aboard the ship Die Junge Heinrich with the skipper Heinrich Niemann and arrived in Oranienbaum, Russia, on 4 July 1766.
The Schneider family arrived in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 39. Descendants of this family are still living in Straub at the time of the 1798 Census, recorded in Household No. Sr48.
