Description

Conrad and Christina Schlegel arrived at the port in Oranienbaum 4 July 1766 along with 4 of their children: Louisa (age 24), Johann (age 16), Dorothea (age 8), and Maria (age 6). They and 3 children (Johannes, Anna Dorothea, and Anna Elisabeth) are recorded on the 1767 Census of Messer in Household No. 53.

The baptism of Maria Elisabeth Schlegel, daughter of Conrad & Christina Schlegel, is recorded on 4 October 1760 in Buches near Büdingen. It is believed that she is the daughter recorded as Maria in Oranienbaum and incorrectly recorded as Anna Elisabeth in Messer.
