Johannes Rhain, son of Augustini Rhain, and Barbara Margaretha Beckel, daughter of Johann Heinrich Beckel from Gelnhaar, married in Bergheim (formerly Heckenbergheim) on 6 May 1733. The baptisms of four children are recorded in the Heckenbergheim parish records: Johann Christoph, b. 22 Oct 1738, baptized 25 Oct 1738; Margaretha, b. 20 Nov 1739, baptized 22 Nov 1739; Johann Heinrich, b. 12 Mar 1744, baptized 15 Mar 1744; and Johannes, b. 29 Jul 1747, baptized 1 Aug 1747. Johann Heinrich Rehn married Anna Margaretha Russ on 8 Mar 1766 in Büdingen. This couple, and Johann Heinrich’s brother Johannes, arrived in Russia on 18 Jun 1766. Johann Heinrich and Anna Margaretha settled in Kolb and are reported there in Family #9 on the Kolb first settler’s list (with the surname spelled Rein). The surname is generally spelled Rehn or Röhn in later records. Bergheim (Ortenberg) was formerly known as Heckenbergheim.
