Johann Wilhelm Neuhard(t), the youngest of Johann Peter & Anna Elisabetha Neuhard's four children, was born 28 February 1728 in Bechlingen (today in Lahn-Dill-Kries, Hesse), west of Giessen. Wilhelm's mother, Anna Elisabetha, died 11 September 1728, and his father remarried shortly thereafter.
Wilhelm married Katharina (surname unknown) and they had a son, Johann Adam, on 4 October 1763 in Bechlingen. The family arrived in Oranienbaum 8 August 1766 from Lübeck aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Wiebe Heinrichson. Son Johann, age 3, was with them at this point, but he must have died on the trip to the Volga region, because he is not recorded with his parents in Household No. 9 of the 1767 Census of Kukkus. They had arrived in Kukkus on 18 August 1767.
