Description
Johannes Grosch, son of Johannes & Maria Sybilla Grosch, was baptized on 29 August 1733 in Heßloch, northwest of Worms (today in the state of Rheinland-Palatinate). Heßloch merged with a neighboring town and is now known as Dittelsheim-Heßloch. Johannes married there on 22 July 1760 to widow Maria Elisabeth (surname not recorded).
They immigrated to Russia along with her two daughters from a previous marriage (Maria Elisabeth & Magdalena), settling in the colony of Schuck on 18 July 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 21.
