Georg Wilhelm Edel was born in Sulzfeld on 8 December 1725. He married there on 21 May 1748 to Dorothea Haas (widow of a Mr. Sprecher). She had been born also in Sulzfeld on 12 September 1711.
They immigrated first to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) and settled on 24 July 1761 in the colony of Friedrichsanbau on the farmstead Großer Hof.
On 16 April 1765, Wilhelm and Dorothea left Friedrichsanbau and immigrated to Russia, arriving in the colony of Fischer on 7 July 1766. They are listed in Fischer on the 1767 Census in Household No. 23.
