Johann Wendel Daniel, son of Heinrich Dieter & Salome Daniel, was born on 5 February 1720 in Gross Bieberau, 15 kilometers southwest of Darmstadt. He was baptized on the same day in the Gross-Bieberau Evangelical Church. About 1760 he married Anna Elisabetha Mentzer who had been born in about 1739.
They immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) departing from Altona, Duchy of Holstein, on 17 September 1760 and arriving in the city of Fridericia, Jutland, Denmark, on 27 September 1760.
After 1763 Johann Wendel Daniel and his wife immigrated to Russia, settling in the Volga German colony of Schilling. There, they had the following children: (1) Johann Philipp, born in 1765; (2) Georg Konrad, born in 1767; (3) Maria Katharina, born in 1773; and (4) Johanna, born in 1774.
By the time of the 1798 Census of Schilling , Johann Wendel Daniel's widow had remarried to Heinrich Schadt. They are recorded there in Household No. Sg37, living with her daughter Johanna. Sons Johann Philipp & Georg Konrad are registered in Household No. Sg55.
