Johann Heinrich Alt, son of Leonhard Alt and Anna Barbara Kohlhepp, was born 27 September 1734 in Oberzell, Schwarzenfels. He married in Büdingen to Anna Gertruda Vogel, daughter of Johannes Vogel and Gertrudis Dorn. She had been born in Weichersbach, Schwarzenfels, on 29 April 1741.
Heinrich Alt, his wife, and their daughter Magdalena (born in route to Russia) arrived in Norka on 15 August 1767 and are recorded on the 1767 census of Norka in Household No. 125.
