Dietz, Steven

American playwright and director Steven Dietz, son of John & Irene (Lind) Dietz, was born 23 June 1958. He grew up in Denver, Colorado. He has written and directed many plays including "Handing Down the Names" (1994), a play about the history of the German Russians and the Dietz Family. He has been awarded a number of playwriting fellowships and has directed numerous productions of his own work. Steven and his wife, Allison Gregory, who is also a playwright, share their time between Seattle, Washington, and Austin, Texas, where Steven is on the faculty of the Theatre & Dance Department at the University of Texas.
