Biography
John Bolgert, son of John Neuwirth and Marie Bolgert, was born 6 February 1925 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Both of his parents died when he was quite young, and he was raised by his mother's parents (Sam Bolgert & Marie Welsch) and took the Bolgert surname. His Volga German ancestors came from the colonies of Reinhard, Reinwald, and Schäfer.
Mr. Bolgert earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Valparaiso University in Indiana. He served as mayor of Sheboygan from 1957-1961. He later served as Circuit Court Judge (1969-1987).
In 1948, he married Lois Kipp, and they had four children.
Judge Bolgert retired from the bench in 1987, and died in Sheboygan on 5 March 1996.
