Place of origin

Description

Johann Georg Albert, son of Johann Peter Albert & Margaretha Hess, was born in Gronau (a very small village just east of Bensheim) in Hessen on 17 May 1744. He married there on 27 May 1766 to Elisabetha Catharina Burger, the widow of Johann Heinrich Bickelhaub.

The newlywed couple along with two Bickelhaub stepchildren are recorded in Household No. 112 on a list attached to the 1767 Census of Warenburg. The two Bickelhaub children are recorded there in error under the surname Burger - their mother's maiden name. Many of those on this attachment were resettled to the colony of Kind, where the widow Albert is recorded on the 1798 Census in Household Kd18, and the two Bickelhaup stepchildren in Households Kd09 & Kd17.
